Simon Tam, a licensed civil engineer, recently retired from his role in the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection (DBI) after 30 years of service. He also worked at DPW, Bureau of Building Engineering/Structural Division, before DBI became a separate agency.

During his time at DBI, Simon held various positions including Senior Plan Checker, Public Code Team member, and Manager of the Permit Bureau in the Technical Services Division. With his extensive experience in the Building Department and expertise as a licensed civil engineer, Simon possesses comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of permitting and code compliance approvals. His proficiency in building codes and interpretation allows for the preparation of clear and compliant plans, resulting in expedited review times.
